Although you don’t need to splurge on a microphone to create a podcast episode, you can always try out the lapel microphone which is cheap and does a decent job. Otherwise, keep in mind that microphones don't come cheap. Here are some microphones you can check:
- Blue Yeti USB Condenser Microphone
- Blue Microphones Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone
- Samson Meteor Mic USB Studio Microphone
- Zoom H1 Handy Portable Digital Recorder
TIP: If you have too much noise around you, a dynamic microphone like the Samson Meteor Mic would be a better fit for you as it doesn’t pick up as much noise from the background as the Condenser Microphones. A condenser microphone is better for someone who is recording in a studio.
