CPM stands for “Cost Per Mille” where Mille, a Latin word, means “thousand”. CPM is the amount a sponsor pays per thousand listens on your sponsored episode/s.
As per the current Indian podcast market rates, the CPM rate is usually around ₹1200 - ₹1500 per 1000 listens/impressions.
Now let’s break this down. Suppose an advertiser has sponsored two of your episodes. Your podcast CPM is ₹1500 which means that the advertiser will pay ₹1500 bucks for every thousand listens on those particular episodes with the attached advertisement. Let’s say your first episode gained 700 listens and your second episode gained 1300 listens - that’s a total of 2000 listens and the advertiser will pay 3000 for those listens.
Similarly, if you get a total of five thousand listens on your sponsored episode/s, then the total amount will be 7,500 bucks.
Here’s how you can calculate the final amount:
Your CPM rate x N number of thousand listens = Final amount
(1,500 X 5 = 7,500)
