Apple Podcasts supports video podcasts, allowing creators to share their content with a wide audience. Follow these steps to publish your video podcast on Apple Podcasts.
1. Prepare Your Video Podcast
- Ensure you have at least one episode before submitting your show. A trailer and a full episode are recommended for launch.
- Apple Podcasts supports MOV, MP4, and M4V file formats.
- Videos can be up to 4K resolution, but 1080p is recommended for a balance between quality and file size.
2. Submit Your Video Podcast Using RSS
- Your video podcast must be distributed via an RSS feed—either self-hosted or provided by a podcast hosting platform.
- Once your RSS feed is ready, visit Apple Podcasts Connect and submit your show.
- Your show must meet Apple’s technical and content guidelines before approval.
3. Publishing Video Episodes
You can publish your video episodes in two ways:
-
Create a Separate Feed for Video Episodes (Recommended)
- If you already have an audio podcast, you can create a new show for the video version to make it easier for listeners to find.
- Use distinct titles, descriptions, and show artwork to differentiate the two versions. Example: Apple Events (Audio) vs. Apple Events (Video).
-
Use the Same RSS Feed for Both Audio & Video Episodes
- You can add video episodes to your existing feed, but keep in mind that videos will automatically download on listeners' devices, which may take up storage and data.
- This option is best for shows that publish infrequently or are no longer releasing new episodes regularly.
Once approved, your video podcast will be available for streaming on Apple Podcasts!
