Apple Podcasts support three types of podcast episodes: Full, Trailer and Bonus. These episode types are displayed in the RSS feed as: <itunes:episodeType>. These different variants of episodes allow you to create unique content and create a better listening experience for your audience.
Episode Types Description
Full: It's a default format and is most commonly used. You can choose ‘Full Episode’ when publishing the complete content, i.e., an entire episode.
Trailer: A Trailer acts as a teaser - a short promotional content snippet from your show that gives a preview of your podcast. Just like a movie trailer, your podcast trailer can help you create a buzz for your show and attract listeners.
Bonus: Any extra content like behind-the-scenes, cross-promotional content & exclusive interviews with guests comes under bonus content. Bonus episodes can be available to all or restricted to paid listeners.
How to assign Episode Types?
Selecting an Episode Type is quite easy. When uploading or editing a new episode, all you have to do is click on Episode Types and pick your choice from the dropdown.
