With Hubhopper’s Video Podcast Distribution feature, you can seamlessly publish your video episodes directly to YouTube—automatically making them available on both YouTube and YouTube Music. This feature is available only for our paid plans.
Whether you're managing an audio podcast or venturing into video content, Hubhopper lets you handle everything from a single dashboard, saving you time and effort. This integration helps you tap into YouTube’s vast audience, boosting discoverability and engagement while keeping your workflow simple and efficient.
Setting Up YouTube Channel
Step 1: Set Up Your YouTube Channel & Playlist
Before enabling YouTube distribution, ensure you have a YouTube channel set up. If you don’t have one yet, you can create it through YouTube Studio.
Next, create a dedicated playlist for your podcast. This is where all your podcast episodes will be automatically mapped. Customize the playlist details to match your podcast’s branding and content.
Step 2: Set Your Playlist as a Podcast
Once your playlist is ready:
- Go to your YouTube Studio dashboard and navigate to the Playlists tab.
- Click the three-dot menu next to your playlist.
- Select ‘Set as Podcast’ to designate it as an official podcast on YouTube.
Step 3: Verify Your Account
To complete the setup, verify your YouTube account using your phone number. This step is required to enable podcast distribution and access additional YouTube features.
Once verified, your Youtube channel is ready to connect with the Hubhopper distribution system
Connecting Your YouTube Channel to Hubhopper
To enable YouTube distribution for your podcast, you’ll need to connect your YouTube channel to your Hubhopper account. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth setup.
Pre-Connection Checklist
Before proceeding, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- You have a YouTube channel set up that is not previously linked to Hubhopper.
- You have a dedicated playlist created for your podcast.
- Your playlist is set as a podcast, and your YouTube account is verified via phone number.
Once these criteria are met, follow these steps to connect your YouTube channel:
Step 1: Connect Your YouTube Channel
- Navigate to the Manual Distribution tab in your Hubhopper dashboard.
- Click on the three-dot menu next to the YouTube icon.
- Select ‘set up’ and sign in with the Google account associated with your YouTube channel.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When signing into your Google Account, you may see a notification stating, "Google hasn’t verified this app."
To proceed, follow these steps:
- Click on "Advanced."
- Select "Go to hubhopper.com"
This message appears because our app is currently undergoing Google’s verification process. Rest assured, Hubhopper is safe to use, and this is only a temporary notification.
Step 2: Select Your Podcast Playlist
- Go to the ‘Select Playlist’ section. From the dropdown menu, choose the playlist you want to associate with your podcast.
- If your playlist doesn’t appear, click the refresh icon in the Integration Status tab to update the list.
Note: If you host multiple shows, you can link each podcast to a separate YouTube playlist for better organization. However, a single YouTube account can only be connected to one Hubhopper account.
Once your YouTube integration is set up, you’re ready to publish your video podcast episodes. Follow these steps to upload and distribute your content seamlessly.
Upload Your Video Podcast Episode
Step 1: Upload Your Episode File
You can upload either a video file or an audio file for your episode. If you upload an audio file, Hubhopper will automatically convert it into a video with your podcast cover art as a static background image. This ensures your podcast is available in both audio and video formats effortlessly.
Step 2: Add Episode Details & Publish
- In the episode details page, enable the YouTube toggle if you want this episode to be published in video format.
- Fill in the required episode details. Your episode title and description will automatically be used as the video title and description on YouTube.
- Click Publish, and that's it! Your episode will be distributed to YouTube
Important Notes
While Hubhopper allows you to auto-publish video podcasts to YouTube, there are a few limitations:
- Editing Restrictions: You cannot edit video episode details from Hubhopper after publishing. Any changes must be made directly in YouTube Studio.
- No Scheduling for Video Episodes: Unlike audio episodes, video episodes cannot be scheduled for future publishing via Hubhopper.
- Thumbnail Uploads: Thumbnails for video episodes must be added manually in YouTube Studio, as this cannot be done through Hubhopper.
- Replacing a Video: You can go into your edit settings and replace your video file. This will update the video in your RSS feed. While the video on Youtube cannot be deleted, your replaced video file will be uploaded as a new video episode on Youtube. Once replaced, you will start getting analytics for the new video episode on YouTube.
